Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Cooperguará is a local cooperative that brings together several local entrepreneurs from Guaraqueçaba, Antonina, Tagacaba, Ilha das Pecas and Superagui. Its goals are to develop local tourism and to strengthen its associates. For the last two years they have been attending meetings, organising several itineraries with specialists and improving their inns, restaurants and transportation.
This initiative is supported by SPVS, a very active non-governmental institution that owns nature reserves in the area and is concerned about improving the living standards of the population by promoting tourism in the region, which is rich in natural resources but poor on infrastructure.
