Guaraqueçaba & Superagui hotels and tours

About Us

We are the team of Discover Paraná, a local tourism company based in Curitiba. We also run the portals for Curitiba, Morretes/Antonina and Ilha do Mel/Paranaguá.

In Superagüi and Guaraqueçaba the Atlantic Rain Forest was kept almost untouched due to its difficult access. English is not spoken and we are quite concerned in being the link between you – traveler – and the local inns, lodges and tour options.

In Superagüi and Guaraqueçaba it is always advisable to be expected, as during high season the inns are fully booked and during low season some of them close. Be aware of having your trip planned before arriving there to avoid difficulties!

We are an international, multi-lingual team. If you prefer, you can write to us in English, German, Spanish, French or Portuguese!

Who we are

Bibiana was born in Curitiba and lived almost 8 years in Germany. But she was ready to return to Brazil for a while. Her wish became true in the beginning of 2007, when she returned to Brazil, opening her business with her husband Ulrich.

Ana Lais is the youngest team member. She joined us 2008 to develop the whl.travel portals and has been a big help with it. She is finishing her tourism studies and has completed an internship in USA and a semester in Germany.

Ulrich is German from Frankfurt/Main and has been working in events since a teenager and began to work on tourism after meeting Bibiana. He fell in love with the region from Paraná and is always concerned in offering hidden spots to our clients.

Guilherme is our youngest team member. He joined us in May of 2009 to update and to insert new contents in the portals and also to develop new projects. Guilherme studies Tourism at Universidade Federal do Paraná and has lived one year in the USA (St. Helena, CA).

Further details about us you can read in our Curitiba-Portal.

How we work and what we do for our region

- We are quite concerned in offering quality services. We do want that visitors experience the best in our region.
-
We prefer to work with locally owned hotels and inns.
-
We recommend restaurants that serve local dishes to our travellers.
-
We leave enough time in the tours, so that local handcrafts can be visited and local aspects of the towns can be shown.
-
We do not take more than 12 or 15 people into tours to nature spots (trekking, hiking, etc.).
-
We choose responsible tour guides, willing to show our travellers good sights and not taking them on a shopping tour. We only work with licensed guides and mountain guides.
-
We support local initiatives and cooperatives to improve local life standards and speak to some government departments in name of other travel agencies to make pressure and help to find some solutions for garbage and education.
-
We book boat rides from fishermen and inns to motivate such people to invest into their boats and safety equipment.
-
In partnership with a private natural reserve, we are beginning to implement 'carbon free' tour options, where we will be investing into trees in tropical areas to compensate the CO2 generated in our tours. By the end of the year we will calculate how much CO2 we generated in the office and will compensate this emission as well.
-
And last but not least, we pay reasonable rates and salaries, making local tourism an interesting job option and to motivate people to keep learning.

We are very glad you know more about us and are looking forward to welcome you here!
