Flights to Brazil

By Car

Getting to Guaraqueçaba by road, you will need to make a long drive from Curitiba. Join the coast from Curitiba and continue on BR 277 until the 55km milestone. Then join the PR 408 and head in the direction of Morretes/Antonina before turning onto the PR 340 towards Cacatu. Finally, head down the PR 405 to Guaraqueçaba. The PR 405 stretch is unpaved road. This is a journey of about 174 miles. Be aware that the road is in very bad conditions and a regular car might have problems reaching the city. If you have a 4-wheel-drive car it might be a good experience!

By Boat

There are usually twice a day regular boats connecting Paranaguá to Guaraqueçaba. Check for timings with the boat operators for your return journey as well. One boat service is run by the municipal office (leaving from the pier in front of the Tourist Information office on the waterfront in Paranaguá) and another is run by a private company. The municipal boat takes three hours, as it makes a stop at Ilha das Pecas. The private boat takes about 2.5 hours offering views of the many wonderful islands along the way. You may even be lucky enough to see dolphins playing in the waves made by your boat on the way. You can buy water, soft drinks and snacks on board.

You can also book private boats: 'voadeiras' (aluminium light boats) or lanchas (more comfortable boats). They take about 40 minutes to 1.5 hour to reach Paranaguá or Guaraquecaba. We recommend you book this service in advance to guarantee your trip.

By Bus

The Graciosa Bus Company has daily services connecting to Guaraqueçaba at Rodoferroviária in Curitiba, with a journey time of between five and six hours.

Getting around Guaraqueçaba

To visit the Morato Waterfalls you should take a taxi or a 'kombi' - VW bus. The price depends on the number of persons making the trip.

To visit the islands and the bay you must take a boat. We can recommend you several reliable local partners.

Getting to Superagui

During low season (April to November) there are regular boats leaving usually Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Paranaguá to Superagui. During high season, such boats are scheduled daily. The trip takes three hours.

On board of a private 'voadeira' or 'lancha', the same trip will take about one hour. Such services should be booked in advance to guarantee your safety. 

Do ensure that you arrange for the same boat to pick you up on its return trip the same day or else you may find yourself stranded. Always check on timings, fares and frequency of the services from the operators before taking the trip.

There are some boat services that connect Vila Superagui on the Superagui Island to Guaraqueçaba. However, these services are unpredictable since they are operated only when the islanders need to fetch medical supplies.

Getting around Superagui

On the island there is a path 'trilha', linking the village to the Desert beach (Praia Deserta). During your walk along the track you will cross a river several times before reaching the beach. It takes about one hour walking. You can walk back to the village on the beach.
